America.gov

This is the largest initiative to date launched by the NDS.

Peter is the first Chief Brand Architect of the United States and a founding senior leader of the National Design Studio, working directly with Joe Gebbia, U.S. Chief Design Officer. His stated mandate is unusually broad: develop the strategic and creative framework for a unified U.S. government design and brand system and bring consistency to how government communicates, looks, feels and interacts with citizens.

That makes America.gov particularly relevant to Peter’s role. The original executive order establishing NDS called for government experiences that are both usable and visually coherent and specifically charged the Studio with using standardized design to improve public-facing services and trust. America.gov takes that mandate from an abstract design principle and turns it into an actual citizen-facing product.
